Puntovivo is a personal project by Johnny IV Young Ospino: the point-of-sale system I wish I'd had for Colombian and wider LatAm retail. Open source, MIT-licensed, in active development.
No venture capital, no team, no invented customers. An open-source project moving forward commit by commit.
I made Puntovivo because I watched too many cashiers fight their system on a Friday at 8 p.m. Cluttered screens, modal windows, stock counters that lie. The register is the heart of the business; it deserves respect, not more friction.
The commitment is simple: one clear next action per task, real neutral Spanish, and advanced tools kept out of the cashier’s way. Optional AI, multi-site and transfers support the operation instead of competing for attention.
If a module needs a tutorial, the module is wrong. I remove buttons before I add captions.
The sale closes without internet. Syncing is an implementation detail, not a condition.
It's not translation: every line of copy is written for a neighborhood cashier, with no voseo and no forced regionalisms. If it sounds off, it's out.
Sensitive shift, role, site and price changes leave an audit trail. Trust is earned by showing the ledger.
All the code is open-source MIT. Anyone who wants to review how VAT or the close is calculated can do it on GitHub.
Solid POS core and real provider-neutral fiscal foundations, but no DIAN production certification or representative hardware qualification yet. The boundary stays explicit.
Register with SKU search and split tender, blind close by denomination, per-site inventory, transfers, purchasing, quotes, and returns. Business data stays isolated with a per-shift audit trail.
Co-pilot natural language → read-only SQL, anomaly detection per cashier, semantic search and invoice OCR. All off by default; you enable it in Settings › AI.
Fiscal profiles, immutable evidence, numbering, and the durable outbox are implemented. Real issuance still needs an authorized Technology Provider contract, credentials, certificates, conformance testing, and certification.
ESC/POS thermal printer, cash drawer and USB scanner aren't validated. Payment terminals are manual for now.
A hosted version with managed backups and updates. It doesn't exist yet; today Puntovivo is self-hosted.
Puntovivo is developed by me alone. There's no team, no offices, no investors. If you want to contribute, the code is on GitHub and issues and pull requests are welcome.
